Mystery Loves Company is the 25th book of the Myrtle Clover Mystery series.
Myrtle Clover is a retired English school teacher. Who lives in the small town of Bradley North Carolina. Myrtle keeps busy with her book club and garden club. She also is a contributor to the Bradley Bugle the local newspaper. Myrtle has to write an article on Teddy Hartfield, local florist and owner of Blossom Serenade for Valentine’s day. She and her friend Miles Bradford arrive at Blossom Serenade to interview Teddy, only to find Mr. Hartfield dead. Much to the dismay of Myrtle’s son Red, who is the chief of police. Myrtle has a habit of discovering murder victims as well as solving cases. In spite of Red’s warning Myrtle is determined to find out who killed Teddy Hartfield and why.
As Myrtle looks into Teddy Hartfield’s background there are many with a motive….Sister Zoey who was in need of money. Next door neighbor Chris Walsh who hated the nose. Nat Drake who lost a great deal of money because of Hartfield’s efforts. Ex employee Ollie Spearman or ex girlfriend Linda Lambert who was dumped…..
The reader will discover many quirky characters as well. Puddin the lazy housekeeper and her husband Dusty. Wanda the psychic. Myrtle and Miles have a good friendship and he is the voice of reason in the story. I found the end to be hilarious!
