Hints of Mystery

Between a Flock and a Hard Place is a funny mystery featuring the character Meg Langslow.  Meg is the assistant to Mayor Randall Shiffley in Caerphilly Virginia.  Meg helps the mayor and the other officials run the town smoothly.

     When local couple the Smetkamps (particularly Mrs. Smetkamp) contact  Marvelous Mansions a home makeover television show it cause quite an uproar.  Neighbors are upset over the demolition noise.  Not to mention that building a bigger home may ruin the aesthetic of the whole block.  It also doesn’t help that Mrs. Smetkamp is mean to EVERYONE she comes in contact with and has no friends.  So when one morning a bunch of feral turkeys are on the Smetkamp lawn it causes problems for the whole neighborhood.  Who put them there and why?  When Meg helps implement a plan to relocate the turkeys she finds Mrs. Smetkamp dead….

Who killed Mrs. Smetkamp?  Television producer Jared Blomqvist?  One of the neighbors?  Long suffering Mr. Smetkamp?  Meg maks it her mission to find out who the murderer is.  I enjoyed reading Between a Flock and a Hard Place.  There are some interesting facts about turkeys in the book.  The characters were relatable and funny.  Chapter 8 has an incident that may bring a smile.
